PLA
Among the 3D printers for home use, 3D printing material PLA is the most commonly used 3D printer material. During production, PLA granulate is extruded from a filament extruder in the form of a uniformly thick plastic strand: filament derived from the Latin filament and filament thread. When used on the 3D printer, the actual solid filament is melted to apply it in thin layers. Common filament diameters are 1.75mm and 2.85mm, sometimes 3.0mm.
From the precision of the filament diameter, a lot depends on 3D printing; Excessive deviations lead to disturbances in the course of the pressure. PLA material polylactides are easy to use, hardly smells when melting and is depending on the manufacturer also harmless of its environmental properties. Since PLA is a plastic based on lactic acid, the natural source material without any color or additives will revert to its natural constituents when exposed to environmental factors. PHA
PHA (polyhydroxy fatty acid) is also a bio-plastic, which is only used as an addition to PLA in 3D printing. In contrast to PLA, PHA is UV-resistant and more temperature-resistant. Depending on the composition, PHA is elastic or solid. ColorFabb uses PHA for its PLA filaments except for transparent filaments.
Section
This plastic also has a high penetration among home-use 3D printers and, like the aforementioned PLA material, is also sold as a filament. However, the 3D printing material ABS must be processed with greater technical effort, since it deforms greatly during rapid cooling. Furthermore, it usually creates a smell of burnt plastic when you process it, so always make sure you have good ventilation. ABS material is more durable than PLA because it is derived from petroleum and is more resistant to environmental influences. The great advantage of ABS filament is its heat resistance, which makes it suitable for areas where PLA 3D printing material would typically melt. In addition, ABS is not as brittle and elastic as PLA. Even with ABS filaments, there is a wide range of colors offered. The 3D printers on which it is to be installed must have a heated printing platform.
BioFila
BioFila is a novel biopolymer based on pure natural starting materials. This plastic developed in Germany is characterized by its good processing and after treatment suitability and is guaranteed to be food safe and industrially compostable. BioFila can also be processed on printers for home use and makes no special demands on the technology used. BioFila is here in our shop via the following link.
